Description

Natural Matcha Tea contains no plants or additives other than Matcha tea. Matcha, the tea drunk in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, is obtained from the leaves of tea trees grown in the shade. This Matcha Tea is prepared from green teas grown and processed in Japan, with no additives.Matcha (pronounced 'matcha') is made from tea leaves that are left in the shade for 15 days before being picked, in order to encourage the plant to produce more chlorophyll. Chlorophyll gives the tea its bright green colour and also gives it a strong flavour. After harvesting, the tea leaves are steamed, dried, and processed to remove stems, veins, and other impurities. This process yields "Tencha," which is only about 10% of the original harvest. Tencha is then ground into a fine powder, usually using a hand mill, in a very slow process. It takes approximately 3 hours to grind 100 grams of Tencha to obtain Matcha tea. Faster processes create an undesirable burnt taste in the tea. Matcha (Maccha) tea is consumed directly and is also used in many beverages and desserts. These include matcha latte, matcha café au lait, matcha milkshake, matcha cake, and matcha cookies. It is known that the highest quality Matcha tea is grown and processed in Japan. At Chado Tea, we have been selling Matcha tea grown and processed in Japan since 2007 in three different qualities: Matcha, Mathca Koicha, and Matcha Ceremony.Matcha Tea Ingredients 100% powdered Matcha Matcha Tea Brewing Add 1-2 teaspoons to 250 ml of water at 66 ºC – 77 ºC. Stir and drink immediately. Net weight: 50 g Number of servings: Approximately 35 cups How to Prepare Matcha Tea Matcha tea, most commonly used in Japanese tea ceremonies, is prepared differently from other teas. Matcha tea is used in many desserts as well as in traditional tea ceremonies.Heat the bowl you will use to mix the matcha by pouring boiling water into it. Wet the whisk used for mixing (i.e. bamboo whisk or "chasen" as it is called in tea ceremonies). Put (1-2 grams) of matcha into the bowl (called "Chawan" in Japanese ceremonies) and add 1 cup of hot water.Hold the bowl firmly with one hand and use the other hand to whisk from left to right with the bamboo whisk, trying to create foam. Once sufficiently whisked, pour the matcha tea into your cup. Matcha Tea Characteristics: While other teas are brewed and only the water is drunk, matcha is mixed into water as a powder and the entire tea is consumed. Matcha is also used in the preparation of many desserts, from ice cream to cakes and pastries. There are two types of Matcha: Koicha and Usucha. These two words are also referred to as "thick" and "thin" tea in Japanese Tea Ceremonies. Usucha is produced from the leaves of tea trees less than 30 years old, while Koicha is produced from the leaves of trees at least 30 years old. Japanese Tea Ceremonies There are four prominent elements in Japanese tea ceremonies: Respect, Tranquillity, Purity and Harmony. These four elements actually summarise the philosophy of the Far East, particularly Japan. Matcha tea is generally used in tea ceremonies. Sencha tea is also used occasionally. These ceremonies are also called Chanoyu. You can find the set used in tea ceremonies here. What is Matcha Latte? Matcha Latte (Green Tea Latte) is made by mixing Matcha tea with milk. Honey can be added according to preference. You can enjoy Matcha Latte, Ice Matcha Latte, and cold Matcha Frappe drinks at Chado Tea Shop in Arnavutköy.
